The Benelli M4 Tactical shotgun is a unique, Auto-Regulating Gas-Operated (A.R.G.O.) semi-auto. The M4 Tactical is the combat service shotgun of the U.S. Joint Services today.
Picatinny rail for mounting scopes, sights, and optics
Ghost-ring sights for quick target acquisition
Originally designed in 1998 for the U.S. Marine Corps, the M4 (M1014) was extensively tested at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland. It proved totally reliable for safety, function, and performance.
For reliability when it counts, select the M4 Tactical shotgun.
A combat shotgun has to function the first time, every time. The Benelli M4 does it for the U.S. military, and now can be the centerpiece of your own home defense plan. Troops who fight day and night need heavy accessories like night vision scopes. The combined additional weight of these optics and other accessories is not a problem for the M4. Benelli engineers developed and patented a unique auto regulating gas operated (ARGO) system. Dual stainless steel self-cleaning pistons located just ahead of the chamber operate directly against the proven rotating bolt and eliminate the need for complex linkages found on other gas autos. The result, Marine-tough reliability under the harshest environmental conditions.
Ghost-ring sights are click-adjustable using a cartridge rim, and can be ordered with tritium inserts for low-light operations. A Picatinny rail allows the mounting of scopes, red dot sights or night optics while retaining back-up metallic sight capability. 4+1 capacity.
Buttstocks can be changed without tools to suit your needs. Ships with pistol grip stock, now OK to add M4 collapsible stock (optional, may be hard to find).
This piston-driven Auto-Regulating Gas-Operated (A.R.G.O.) system was designed for and approved by the U.S. Marine Corps.Benelli’s patented Auto-Regulating Gas-Operated (A.R.G.O.) system is a simple, self-cleaning, piston-driven action.
The A.R.G.O. system is a unique, short-stroke, dual-piston design developed for the M4 Tactical shotgun in 1998 for the U.S. Marine Corps. It was later adopted as the U.S. Joint Services combat shotgun-and remains so today.
The Benelli R1 Big Game Rifle is built around the same, patented A.R.G.O. piston-driven system developed for the M4 Tactical shotgun.
The gas port is located just forward of the chamber, where the gases are hotter and cleaner. This results in less fouling and more reliable cycling. Pistons push directly against the bolt, for fast operation and minimum vibration. There are no connecting linkages or heavy action bars under the forend, which add weight. The torque locking system in the R1 Big Game Rifle ensures repeatable accuracy, because barrel tension remains constant for every shot
